Petition for Writ of Mandate Filed

On June 4, 2026, Residents and Taxpayers petitioned the court for a writ of mandamus, for a 526(a) civil restraining order, declarative relief, and injunctive relief to prevent the recalled Councilmembers from continuing to spend tax dollars unlawfully.

Pursuant to Government Code 36503.5, since April 28, 2026, the Councilmembers subject to the recall have not been authorized to expend or participate in any activity that would expend public funds.  Pursuant to Elections Code 11382, on May 28, 2026, when the election was certificated, the recalled Councilmembers should have immediately left office.
